    Description

    Handsome fold-out 1952 Gulf Oil Company road map of Texas, printed more than 68 years ago.
    The map opens to 18" x 36".
    It has great detail on old highway alignments, including U.S. Route 66, with cartography by Rand McNally.
    Western Texas is on one side; the eastern part of the state is on the other side.
    There are inset plans of Mexico, the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and Big Bend International Park.
    The map was distributed by the Gulf Oil & Refining Company in 1952 and is dated by code number in the lower margin: 2-514041-3. Population data is from the 1950 census.
    There are two panels advertising Gulf products, including car wax, motor oil, Trak surface and moth spray, and Gulfspray roach and ant killer.
