    Description

    Canadian Pattern 1897 Sword by Hobsons Named To The 62nd St. John Fusiliers. Pattern 1897 sword, with leather field scabbard, marked to the 62nd St.John Fusiliers, and named to D.H. Scott. One piece wire wrapped shark skin grips are in very good condition, with a checkered metal top guard to the handle, all in very good condition. The steel guard is bright and clean with a nice original bright finish, with the raised George V cypher and Kings’s Crown. The blade is maker marked to the left side, reading “Hobson & Sons, 1-3 & 5, Lexington, London, W.” The right side shows the star of David, with a bright center proof mark. The blade is etched to both sides to the top of the groove, 14 inches above the guard. The etching to the left side of the blade also shows the George V cypher and King’s Crown, with right side etched 62 Fusiliers badging. Below this is the banner, with the naming “D. H. Scott”. ( An officer of the 62nd Fusiliers). The blade is bright and clean, with only minor surface discoloration from age. The leather scabbard is complete with strap, and shows a nice original finish with some scuffing from age and use. Finish and wear to the scabbard is darker at the drag. Stitching is strong throughout with the leather being pliable. Very good condition overall. Naming is un-researched. I accept all forms of payment and ship all over the world.
