For bid is an important, original April 25, 1910 Stockton, California "San Joaquin County Chapter, National Red Cross" (this was a tuberculosis camp) letter written by important female medical doctor & suffrage activist Dr. MINERVA GOODMAN! This letter was handwritten by Dr. Goodman to Mrs. Elsie Overstreet regarding a woman named "BERTHA" who was suffering from tuberculosis at the red cross hospital in Stockton. The letter mentions 1906 earthquake funds in the charge of Mr. Frederick W. Dohrmann (1842-1914). Dohrmann was founder of the Emporium store and a Red Cross enthusiast. Three page letter handwritten on three letterhead sheets and signed "M. Goodman." With the original mailing envelope with a large red cross as part of the printed stationery. Mailed April 26, 1910. Doctor MINERVA GOODMAN came to Stockton in 1904 after graduation from Medical School of the University of Minnesota. She served in different capacities through 1962. She is listed on a database of important suffragists.This is a very important piece of California medical history.
