    pre-WWI Era British Pattern 1876 Long Socket Bayonet w/Leather Scabbard for the Martini-Henry Rifle - Original - Very Nice Condition
    Up for sale is a pre-WWI Era British Pattern 1876 Long Socket Bayonet w/Leather Scabbard.  This bayonet was for the Martini-Henry Rifles.  This is an Original Set.  The socket still has the original locking ring, the screw still turns.  The finish is bright.  Some discoloration on the blade.  There are also some minor surface pits on the blade. The blade has the British War Department and Enfield Proof markings.  The scabbard has a leather body with brass throat and tip.  The scabbard has the WD & Enfield Proof markings.  This is the Mk2 Scabbard with the two rivets in the leather scabbard.  The leather is full intact.  No rips or tears.  It is still fairly soft and supple.  Minor seam separation on the rear.  Hard to find scabbards in this condition.  Overall length 25", Blade length 21 1/4", Socket length 3" and Socket bore diameter 0.71".
    This is a nice representative example that has ages well over it's 120+ year life.
