    Description

This is a listing for one set (pair of cuffs and waist knits) for the 1948 through 1951 USN type 55J14 (first) model G-1 flight jackets. These particular knits are a light seal brown color.  All correct to fit most all 55J14 G-1 type jackets in both horizontal & vertical dimensions and configured to fit all sizes (36-50).
Basically, these knits offered here are an exact replica for the first model G-1 in both color, weave design and configuration. About as close you are ever going to get for that specific era jacket.
With regards to the particular style knits both the waist knits and cuffs, these are among some of the knits I had specifically created for my late 1940's through the early 1950's 55J14 model  G-1 jacket reproduction builds and restoration projects. Until I had these particular knits specifically made I was unable to find anything other than generic type knits that did not correctly duplicated this particular vintage cuff's look. Now & as a result of having these knits custom made I am now able to more closely duplicate those originals by using these same knits currently offered here.
These same knits were made through a minimum order here in the USA & to my specifications. Moreover, not only to match those post War USN type jacket knits specific rib rack waist knits configuration but also follow the type of cuffs that were specifically used with the 55J14 model  G-1. To include a few from jacket makers of the immediately following 1950's 7823 (AER) jackets. T
he cuffs used on this model jacket are known as flared cuffs & included with this knits set. This specific type of flared type cuffs were typical to most all 55J14 model G-1 jackets and a detail missed by most.
Specifically, flared type cuffs are a more conical shape with a more even taper as compared to the bell shaped cuff knits seen used on most all WW-2 type jackets. In addition, correctly sized for those seen used on 55J14 model G-1 jackets.
Both of these matching waist knits & cuffs utilize a 100% wool with
    consistent
long fibers.  A great quality and as such will not pill, long lasting & something to appreciate. Unlike some of the other jacket knits in which I had the misfortune to have encountered in the past. Exactly why I specifically use these particular knits for my all of my builds and restoration projects.
As seen in the provided descriptive images are multiple pictures done of a medley of late 1940s and early 1950's 55J14 model G-1s. To include a Aviators Clothing, B-G INC and Star Sportswear jackets for comparison purposes. Moreover only seen to authenticate this same knit set being offered here.
Those G-1's seen in the descriptive images are all original 55J14 jackets from within my collection and retain their original knits. You will notice exactly how well those knits being offered here match those originals in both color and design.
Since these light seal brown colored knits were supplied to me through a minimum order I now have slightly more knit sets than I will need for the foreseeable future. You are welcome to a set while they last!
Please note, I have correct USN flight jacket knits sets available for the M-422 through the early 1960s G-1.
