Description
This is a vintage linen paper post card, that is post marked: "OCT. 3, 1942." (During World War II.) The front pictures a WW II era military (bomber?) airplane, flying a mission at night. In small print, it is marked: "Greetings from "Sheppard Field' and WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS." During the second World War, "Sheppard Field" was an Army Air Corps aviation mechanics and basic training center. (The base is NOW called "Sheppard Air Force Base" or SAFB / S.A.F.B.) The U.S. Army private, who sent this card, wrote (in pencil): "Having good luck - will start to school next Saturday. So far this week I have had guard duty & K.P. Don't have much time for letter writing. But I'll try." The card is in FINE to EXCELLENT condition, with no tears or creases. The corners are mostly very nice. This is a great image of military plane, and a nice little message written on the back. It is guaranteed to be old & original, or your money back.U.S. Shipping Only
