    Description

Superb English Pattern 1907 Rifle Bayonet with Scabbard.  Bayonet measures 21-3/4" overall with a blade length of 17".  Two toned smooth blade metal with dark gray at the ricasso and light gray for the remainder with a light brown age patina. Ricasso blade marked, Crown cartouche over "G.R." (King George V), over "1907" over "8'18" (August 1918), over "V" in a circle over "VICKERS".  Opposite shows proof-marks, "X" (tested) , etc.   The wood grips are marked, Crown over "90/D". Pommel end shows a "R" over "MX.D/1382" which is the Duke of Cambridge's own Middlesex Regiment.  Scabbard shows age patina, wear, with the back marked, "G.R. 17" and "H.G.R. 17" with the forward arrow cartouche. H.G.R. stands for the maker of the scabbard, Hepburn, Gale and Ross, LTD made in 1917.   A very nice historical piece by a rare maker.   See photos for further details, clarification, and condition.
